Summary: 
       Max saved Kate’s life .Because Max gave Kate the first job .But Max was killed by a drug addict who was trying to get money! So Kate’wated to go Amsterdam and found the killer. He visited Jos van Eessen after she missed Elly. Jos van Eessen was one of the greatest footballers of all time .Max was really helped Jos van Eessenthe the best, and Max was met Jos van Eessen before he was dead. And then Kate went to De Pijp where Max’s body had been found. When he returned to his hotel, and he had a few questions. And Balzano was angryed that the Gazette got a story before us  them, Balzano gaveKate tree days to find a story, or leave Amsterdam.
Reflection:
      The climax plot with Max dead becomes more exciteding. And Kate wants to know the truth, because Max is very important for her.  She went to Amsterdam and already found same wrong. She can’t understand why Max had wanted her to write about the club so much? And why was Jos van Eessenthe so frightened? Those questions make me want to continue to finish ths book.

Reflection:
The book is easy for me to read because the writer didn't use many hard words.And the story is also very interesting. It attracts people to keep reading more and more.I wonder to know what is going to happened to Kate.

The main character,Kate,is a news reporter,who used to work for Max Carson but now works on the Daily Echo for Dave Balzano. Although Max is Kate's ex-boss, they still keep in touch well. One day,they met at a club ,having some beer and chatting what life have been recently,and everything was as usual. But who knows that the next time Kate saw Max was no longer to talk to him but to face a cold dead body lying on the ground. Kate was absolutely being shocked and feeling upset, but she started to find out why Max would be killed, although the police said that it's nothing than a mugger, she still doubted about it. Then when her colleague, Rick came to talk to her, she brought out that Max had once save her life , saying that she had once wrote a news about Johnny, one of the most dangerous criminals, but totally outraged the bad man and forced him to put a great deal of money for reward to anyone who could kill Kate. Fortunately, Max put his own life in danger to save her life by coming to an arrangement. After telling Rick about this secret, Kate decided to find out the main reason to Max's death. She then connected to her friend,Elly, a Dutch police. They discussed on the case and Elly gave Kate a card which found in Max's pocket. There's a name and an address on it ,'Jos van Essen,Oude Schans 141.' Kate then went to this address and paid Jos van Essen,a greatest footballers,a visit. The man treated Kate in his room and add a cup of coffee to her.  After talking for a while , Kate then got new information about Max -- he has a heart disease.
Reflection: After reading these chapters, I feel very shocked about why a well-being man like Max Carson would be killed and how brave Kate was to find out the reason for Max's death. Also, I think this reminds me of people's weakness and how fragile lives are,so we should seize every opportunity when we have chances to make a decision or to have a public speech. Kate kept Max's kindness of helping her in mind and kept go on to search for the mystery. What will happen the next ? Let's discuss on the next chapters.

         The story begin with two character.One is Kate Jensen who works at Daily Echo in london as a news reporter.Another is Max Carson who is Kate’s friend and savior.

Max asked Kate to write a story about Rotterdam City Football Club which is one of the top clubs in Europe for relaxation.Two days after they met,Max’s body was found lying dead in Amsterdam with twenty knife wounds in his body.Kate asks her friend Rick about this tragedy,Rick is just thought of a mugging that had gone wrong – a drunk or a drug addict who tried to steal Max’s money,it looked as if Max had fought back,but unfortunately the guy had a knife and had gone crazy.Kate doesn’t believe what Rick said,she decides to find out the truth…
 

Reflection:

I  appreciate  the sroty, because the writer used easy words to express the character’s emotion.That’s what I need to learn now! I don’t need any hard words to show how good  I am at English, but use easy words to complete an article. The story is very interesting because it has many climaxes but never show who killed Max. So it keeps reader’s curiosity about the story ! I like it very much!!

      Kate is a news reporter in London, she had a beer with her friend, Max. They hadn’t seen each other for a while, because Max lived in Holland. They shared with their lately lives , and Max thought Kate needed a holiday. Max suggested maybe Kate can go to Holland and write about footballs. After finished the beer, Max left quickly, said he had a date with a friend and had to leave immediately. He also said he would ring Kate in a few days, but he was found dead in an Amsterdam street. Kate was astonished by Mex’s death, so she caught the first plane she could and left for Amsterdam, to find Max’s killer. She asked her police friend Elly for help. Elly told her some studies of the case, also mention there was a car in Max’s jacket pocket, which had an address and a name, and Kate knew that name. Name’s owner was a retired young footballer. Kate paid a visit to the footballer, she thought he was somewhere strange. That night, Elly rang Kate to have dinner together Elly told Kate polices found Max’s killer, but Kate didn’t believe that guy is the mudder.
Reflection

     First time I got this book I thought it’s boring because I seldom read this style’s stories, but I gave it a try and gradually found it is an interesting story.  I only finished one half of this book, but I can’t wait to finish it all! I guess the killer isn’t the man Amsterdam’s polices had found and there must have been some secrets behind. Bert, the man Kate met in a café-bar, who is the man who saw Max was killed that night? I hope I can finish my math homework quickly, and then I will know the ending of this story XD.

Summary:

         Kate is a reporter working on the Daily Echo. She isusually writing about crime reports. Kate and her friend Max, who lived in Holland and paid a visit to England now, were chatting in a bar two days ago. Max told her that she should let herself take a rest. Left London and go to Holland. Because Kate's boss Dave treats employees very strictly, Max suggested Kate  write sports reports in Holland to let Dave allowed her to leave. And Max told Kate that he would call her in a few days, and then they said goodbye to each other.

         Unfortunately, Kate never received the phone from Max. And she can no longer meet him and talk to him, because the police found Max lying cold with twenty knife wounds in his body on the streets in Amsterdam.

         Kate was confused. she talked over to Rick, her colleagues in the Daily Echo, discussing this strange thing.  Based on Kate's understanding of Max, he could not like the general European man going to Amsterdam's red light district just for sex.

         She told Rick that Max actually had saved her life. Max is was so important to her. Kate think thought  that Max's death really cast too much doubts. Kate determined to ask for leave to Dave to go to Amsterdam and find out the answers.

Reflection:

I think this story very very attracted to me.  After reading the second chapter I feel my mood is very tense!  The plot is like kitty's claws gently scratching my curiosity.  This time I read too little, and I suddenly began to regret that I did not read it earlier......

And Kate decided to find out the murderer, and going to Amsterdam as Max had wanted, not for Max but to find his killer.

Response: It’s such an outstanding novel. Although its detail is clear, it wasn’t hard for a student like me  to read . Maybe this is what I have to learn – use easy words to express something that  may be hard to understand. And what impressed me the most was this: But Max never rang. In fact, I never saw him again. Two days later, he was found lying dead in an Amsterdam street with twenty knife wounds in his body. (Page 9)

It was an easy sentence but shocked me. And this is the transition of the story. The atmosphere had completely changed, and it makes me want to read it more.

Reflection:
 When I read this book ,I felt like walking in a woods ,I can’t know how is the development. You can’t stop reading it, though it is very sad about Max's death.

The story start that Kate met Max. Max advised Kate should have a holiday. Two days later,Max was found lying dead in Amsterdam. Kate can’t accept this truth. He asked his friend – Rick. Rick thought it was a mugging. But Kate doesn’t think so. Max helps Kate a lot so Kate wants to find out the truth. She arrived in Amsterdam, meeting Elly.

She asked Elly some question to follow up a clue. And then he decided to see the ex-footballer-Essen.

Reflection:

Seeing this chapter, I think Max is a good person because he helps many friends. Therefore, Kate was willing to find clues about Max. I think Max’s brother Tom who is the most possible criminal now. Although he doesn’t appear, he works with Kate. He was likely s to kill Kate because Kate may vie the company property. But now we can’t find clues for solving a case. I think the footballer hid a lot of things.  For example, why he is retiring at only twenty-eight and something about Kate. I think maybe he is accomplice but there is little chance. This story makes me want to read more at the each chapter because I can’t imagine what it would  happen the next page . I think a  mystery novel is unpredictable and exciting. To find out the truth, I can’t stop to track clues. Both reasons make me open the next page, reading more and learning more.

Kate Jensen’s friend, Max Carson, the person who had ever saved my life, was dead. Before he was died, I had ever talked with him in gladness two days ago. I think his reason of death isn't simple and want to know who is the murder. I go to Amsterdam where Max died, and met mine and Max’s friend who may all has some clues. But it seems that Max’s friend has some things or clues which don’t tell me…

Reflection : 
The first thought floating in my mind is that foreigners’ names are too long to remember!!! I’m very serious!!! Because they are too long, I can’t tell from them. Besides, I feel main character Kate is a woman of courage. She kept searching for the truth of her friend’s death. Although it seemed that there were some dangers in front of her, she must do it for her good friend. I think if no one forces me to read it, I will keep reading it. Because I wonder why a young handsome ex-footballer unlocked his with three or four locks. Why didn't he tell all he knows? They makes me curious.

It is a fantastic story, because I like to read the detective fiction.The plot arranged is very outstanding,nervous. It lets readers be filled with curiosity.It also makes readers imagine the following progress,the gimmick the murderer made,and the penalty for the murderer.The detective fictions not only catch readers' attention,but also improve readers' thinking ability.It also lets readers know how the police or bloodhound searches for evidence,and how the police or bloodhound manages to arrest the killer. They have to be blessed with clear thinking,keen eyes,risky,and sharp reflection.They always play a significant part in striking a crime,and they are also willing to sacrifice for justice.In short,it teaches me a lot.

Reflection:

It is a great story for me, because I like to read detective novels. At the beginning, I was surprised at Max’s death. It is horrible to me with twenty knife wounds in his body. And I was in a cold sweat of anxiety when I read the story of Max saved Kate’s life. Kate was caught by the criminals and Max saved her. It was very dangerous.

When I start to read the story, I can’t stop it. I want to know who the real killer is and what happened at that time. So I will read more and find out the answer.

Reflection:

I thought this novel describes the plot very vividly and has a magic that makes me want to continually read it, particularespecially the  character temperament. For example I consider that Kate is very brave, because she is single one to goes  to Amsterdam alone to find the truth for her best friend Max’s death, and a coward young retired footballer.  He seems to hide something. To understand the truth, I will read it more.

When I saw the topic at first sight, I was curious by what the word "connection" means. It is nervous to read a detective novel, because there's always something in danger. I also found that the plot in the story is vivid and I could play a drama in my mind.

I think mystery novel is very exciting, but this book makes me feel a little bit sad, because the best friend and also the person who saved her life, was killed by someone.  Maybe  it was a the person who drank beer and wanted some money from him. What Kate can do is to find out the person who killed Max.  The worst thing is that, even if she caught that person,Kate still lost a person she likes very much in the world since then.

                 I think the biggest reason that Max asks Kate for writing the report about his club is Max needs Kate to disclose the fact about his club. After reading this novel, I find the plots inside the book are so excited that I eager to finish the whole story.

Reflection:  I think Kate was too stupid because he can’t do anything but it just a story so that ok.i love Kate’s impulse and how much he values his friends. It teaches me to be a good man to my friend because I might need them one day.

     This book is an exciting story. The main character Kate wants to find his friends killer, going to Amsterdam. When I look at these chapters, I feel the story is full of riddle, although I have finished at chapter 4, the story tells slowly, but it let me know about the case. Make me want to finish it.

REFLECTION

If I were Kate ,I couldn't believe what her heard ,too. I was very shocked that someone could be so cruel that dared to kill person with knife and made twenty wounds. The person who killed Max needed to go to hell. Maybe it was not enough to punish that person. I hated to hear that kind of news. It would also make me think if I were Max ,I would be so pain that I wanted to die.

          How sudden the story is!Although the book is also a detective story like others,it is more attractive than else.When the role of Rick showed up,I thought it seriously that he is a suspect in the fatal case because his appearance was unexpected to me.Seeing that Max had ever saved Kate's life,Kate determined to do what she wants.I appreciate Kate for her courage and expect the development of the climax.

          I think many things are impermanent.Someone who talk to you now may die tomorrow.I think the heroine is brave.If I encounter this kind of things ,I can only endure in silence.I love the reasoning novels,so I can't be able to wait to see next chapter.Who is the criminal?I believe the answer will come out soon.

Kate felt a little bit scare, because he thought Max’s dead is due to him. When Kate first started as a reporter, he wanted to write the biggest story. So he wanted to catch the big fish, Johnny McGraw, one of Manchester’s most dangerous criminals. But that put Kate‘s life in danger. Max wanted to rescue him, so he put his own life in danger, too. Max came to an arrangement with McGraw and McGraw let Kate go. As a result of this case, Kate thought Max’s dead probably had relationship with him. So he decided to survey this case by himself.

Reflection:

I felt Kate is the criminal in the beginging; because I thought he probably kills Max due to write wonderful news about crime. But when I read the second chapter, I changed my mind; I thought McGraw is more suspect than Kate.

I think this novel is very attracted me to continuously read it. I am going to keep on read it more. I also learned some good sentence. For example: he was found lying dead in an Amsterdam street with twenty knife wounds in his body. I learned how to describe a crime scene. I wanted to cry but l couldn’t. It’s a very easy sentence, but it teaches me how to express my emotion. So I will keep on read it more.

     At first, it never occurred to me that the murder won’t happen so fast. The police thought that it was just a drunk or drug addict who wanted his money and he was unfortunately killed by a crazy one. Not only Kate but also me think that it’s not as easy as what they think so. I consider that Jos van Essen, who is a retired footballer, know the details of what Max died of. If I were Kate, I would go to find the murder immediately-just like her, I don’t want to see my friend died of an unknown-or a not-clear reason. I hope that the Dutch policewoman, Elly van Praage could put more attention to that murder case-though she seemed that she was busy. (Somehow I feel her would be the key person to solve this mystery case…) Now Kate is going deep into the center of the case, and I am supposed to see what will happen next. (Reflection)

The Amsterdam Connection (Chapter 1-5)

Summary :

           Kate Jensen, who is a crime news reporter in London, having a beer with her ex-boss, Max Carson, in the Queen’s head. Max told Kate to relax and go to Holland to writing sports news. But Kate didn’t say ok. After two days, Max was found dead in Amsterdam with twenty knife wounds in his body. So Kate decided to go to Holland. She met the policewoman, Elly van Praage, in Holland, and talked about Max dead. Then Kate to visited Jos van Essen, a retired footballer, to talked about Max.

Reflection :

        I though Max asked Kate to go to Holland, may be he had predicted he will encounter a murder, so he tried to pursue Kate to go to Holland and to find the true behind the murder

        When I finished the chapter five, I want to continue the rest of the book, because I want to know the truth why Max be killed and want to know the result. So I will finish the whole book soon.

OUTLINE:

Kate, a news reporter in London, chatted with Max in the Queen’s Head. Kate and Max are good friends. Sadly, that was the last time Kate met Max. Max died before long. Kate was very shocked. He decided to find the murderer. Then, he went to Amsterdam and met the police, Elly and a retired footballer, Jos. Hope that he can get some useful information from them.

REVIEW

It was a tragedy totally, I think. You just saw your friend a few days ago, then someone told you he or she disappeared in the world. What would you think? You must be sad, frustrated, even a bit of angry. But what can you do? Comfort yourself? Accompany his family? What if we should find out the killer? Just like the brave main character, she really wanted to know who murdered her best friend, so he turned into a detective. That may be dangerous. It seemed that searching for the truth was more important than her life. Whatever, it is just a story. Later, Kate went to Amsterdam, where Max died. Kate tried to ask Jos some questions which may be a part of hints. But I think Jos did not want to tell the deeper personal information about Max. He sometimes avoided answering the real questions. What did Jos think about? What did he want to hide? Perhaps Jos was the killer; he did not want other people to know many things about Max. Or he just didn’t believe Kate. It’s complex. There are many possibilities. And why did Max die? How? I am very curious. Maybe there’s a surprising ending. Just keep reading, I think, and I will find the right answers.

Summary:

Kate Jensen is a reporter who only wrote about crime on the Daily Echo in London. One day he met his ex-boss Max Carson who lived in Holland. They talked about the past and Kate’s latest story. Unfortunately, a few days later, Max was found lying dead in an Amsterdam street with twenty knife wounds in his body. The death of Max made Kate reminded something bad in the past. And Kate thought this case was related with her. So Kate started to find out the truth.

Reflection:

This murder mystery story is more complex than other stories I have been read. Although I just read four chapters, the contact made me interested and nervous. When Kate was trying to find some trails, I also trying to predict the murderer. It felt like I am also a character in the story. My heart went up and down when I was reading. I felt excited when I went deep into the story.

Summary:
            In the beginning, Kate Jensen, a journalist, was talking with his friend, Max.  As Kate felt exhausted at her work, Mike suggested that she take a break from her work, and that she go to Holland and write a story about The Rotterdam City Football Club.  But Kate was good at writing a crime, not at sports.  In the conversation, Kate got a general picture about Max, his brother Tom, The Rotterdam City Football Club and Carson Football School.  However, two days later, Max was found lying dead.  Thus, Kate was shocked and decided to look into the cause of Max’s death.

   Reflection:

To me, the title of the novel The Amsterdam Connection is a mystery.  It arouses my curiosity.  I wonder what it is.  Both the title and Max’s death are the great suspense to make me keep going on.  I kept asking myself, “Who killed Max?  Why?”  When Max stopped talking more about the club and the school, it seemed there was a problem.  It is reasonable to associate the question with Max’s death. 

In my opinion, Kate was a brave journalist, who would take action to look for the truth.  The author described the traits of Kate very vividly.  As she was good at Karate, she was alert and athletic.    Maybe, any girl that would like to be a reporter or a journalist should have a healthy body because she might put herself in danger at any moment and she has to protect herself.

Summary  (Chapter1~ Chapter6  p6~36)

This book is like detective novels.  One day, Max was found lying dead in an Amsterdam street with twenty knife wounds in his body.  Max is Kate's ex-boss and they are also good friends, so Max very wants to find out the truth.  Because he was chatting with him just two days before he died, he could not believe he was really dead.  When he arrived in Amsterdam, he find Elly, was policewoman and his friend.  She talked to he knows something about this case.The most important is that the police found in Max's pocket a piece of paper that says football player's address.  The football player was only twenty-eight, still quite young and retired.  And then, Kate decided to go to his house. In there, he found something wrong.  For example, his house even had four locks. When he said something about Max's things he did not dare to  look into her eyes and Kate deliberately lied he did not know.  So Kate felt he was very strange,so he began to suspect.  Later, Bert also helped much in Max's thing.

Reflection

In the beginning, I was very excited to start reading this book, because I really like detective novels.  But at first reading, there .are a lot of place names that I can not read on, I do not understand what he was saying in the end.  But when I read more and want to know more behind his end, would like to know who is the murderer, for what purpose and how to kill a person. Can not wait to continue reading

This book is my favorite content is Kate go footballer's house and talk about each other,  I think this is my current climax.  His house still does not know for what purpose and set four locks.

Is he the murderer? I  GUESS.
