The Accident Tourist

SUMMARY

Macon Leary writes guidebooks for people who have to travel on business but wish they could stay home. The Accident Tourist books tell them everything that they should do. One day, Macon went out with his wife, Sarah Leary. They went to the beach first then It rained so they drove home, unfortunately they had a bad communication in the car and Sarah’s mood got very bad. Then Sarah divorced with Macon unexpected. For no choose, Macon went back to stay with his unmarried sister, Rose, and his two divorced brothers Charles and Porter. After a week, Macon needed to go to have a trip because of his job but his had a dog named Edward would bite anyone that made it uncomfortable. So Macon decided to send it to the animal hospital but animal hospital didn't want to accept it because it would bite people then Macon sent it to another animal hospital. There was a woman named Muriel, she was very interested in Edward and when Macon came back she suggested that Macon should train Edward which was too naughty to control. Also, Muriel told Macon that she was a vet also a vet trainer so she could help Macon to train Edward. Macon thought a lot but he finally let Muriel to train Edward. During training Edward Macon and Muriel became the special good friend and at the end Macon moved to Muriel’s house which located on Singleton street. Macon thought lived with Muriel was the right decision for himself but Macon’s family didn't agree with him and told him to moved back to his own house. Furthermore, Macon realized that he was still loved Sarah so he moved back to live with Sarah again. At the first, Macon felt everything became normal and regular and the important thing was that Sarah came back to him. After one week, Macon went to Paris for job but he met Muriel. She was still loved Macon but he didn't love her anymore so Macon kept himself from her. On one day morning at Pairs his back got in trouble that he couldn't move how he wanted, so he called Rose and Rose called Sarah and Sarah came to Paris to take care of Macon. Macon was very happy that Sarah came for him and he could just get rid of Muriel. But, unexpected, Macon found out that why he and Sarah would divorced because he couldn't stand Sarah’s talk style. Finally, he made the final decision—he went back to live with Muriel.

REFLECTION

After reading this book, I don’t really know how to express how I feel. First, I think Macon is not a good man because he couldn't know what was he really want. Also, he made me confused, why he liked to live between two women and first stay here then stay there. Won’t he feel tire? If I were him, I would just go away to a place that no one recognize me. Then I can have a new life even though I am not young enough to have a really new life. Another question is that why Sarah can’t control her temper? If she really love Macon why she would left him and let him to meet another woman then told him that he should love her because they were too old to have a new life. What an awful reason! The only one person that I think who was really to care about is Muriel. She didn't do anything wrong, she just met a wrong person. For this book, I don’t think a story between a man and two women is interesting. I do think it is boring to read and I wish I could know why author want to write this book!!
