The Amsterdam Connection (Chapter 6-10)

Summary:
After meeting with Elly, Kate got a message from Bert when she came back to the hotel. So she called him out and prepared four hundred guilders to exchange more information about Max’s death. Bert told her that someone saw a man took Max out of a car, and knifed his dead body many times at de Pijp. But the knife was gone. Kate didn’t know whether the information was true, perhaps Bert just wanted to make some easy money. Next day, Kate paid a visit to Max’s brother Tom Carson in Rotterdam. They talked about Max a little, and then they went to see the Carson Football School and the team of Rotterdam City Football Club. Back to Amsterdam’s library, Kate found that Martijn Christiaans have forty-five per cent of the shares in the club. But she didn’t meet him around his house and got a letter when she came back to the hotel. Kate rang Elly and decided to visit Ronnie, who owes Elly something, for the information of the bet on the letter. Then she rang Jos van Essen to see the match tomorrow. After it, Kate went out for a walk at night. She was attack by a tall dark-haired man with clear blue eyes, but she against him and ran back to the hotel. Elly went to the hotel on the next day and told Kate that Max was died of the knife wounds. Then Kate went to meet Ronnie for a bet, a large amount of money on Leiden to win the match against Rotterdam and the list of the bets placed by the Amsterdam Connection. After that, Kate went to visit police Joop de Vries and talked about what Bert told her and the attack yesterday. But he didn’t take the words, so she left there and went to watch the football match.

Reflection:
This part of the story surprised me because Kate was attacked by a man. That was very dangerous and horrible. But made me more surprised is Kate fought the attacker and let him drive away. It is hard for a woman to fight a tall man without anything or anyone’s help. Perhaps after Max saved her life, she learned to protect herself. So it won’t happen again.
I think this part is the raising part of the story. Some of the clues are getting clearly and clearly, but not everything yet. I think that the bet of the football match is the key point and the last part must be very interesting. I can’t wait to finish the novel.
