SUMMARY：

This novel is described Macon and Sarahs’ story.

Beginning of the story, Macon and Sarah drove on the way home on rainy days thought their death son. Their son was murdered in a burger bar his second night at summer camp. She felt he was not concerned about her so that she decided to divorce him. From them on, they began to Separated and Macon always felt sad. So he decided to move to his family’s house.

One day, Sarah wanted to pick up her thing and told him I want to kill murder because of he broke my family. Another day, Macon must go to England because of his work. So he decided to send his dog to ANIMAL HOSPITAL. But at first no one can accept him because it can bit attendants ever. Finally he find out MEOW-BOW HOSPITAL willing to take care of Edward. He also knew Muriel here. Although Muriel and his family told he must train the dog because it was a little out of control even bit many people, until he also was bitten. He decided to send him to training for Muriel. At the same time in training, he chatted with Muriel about their broken marriage and her son each other. Although they had a quarrel, still lived together to take care of her son.

On Thanksgiving, Macon’s boss went to his home celebrated and told him that he want to marry Rose on Christmas.

One day, Macon in Canada’s hotel picked up the receiver from Sarah. She told she want to move back into their house before for a little while. Despite she knew his house damaged. So he agreed. Later he went to Paris and met Muriel. In there, he found many things change different. They had been arguing. Finally, Sarah came there to take care of him .Because he not only back hurt but also had a cold. In the end, although he felt Sarah was better, he eventually decided to choose Muriel together.

REFLECTION：

When I read the entire novel, at first I feel very confused. Due to I really do not understand a small fraction of the final chapter. But when I realize, I feel Macon is an Elusive man. Because I always thought he would be together with Sarah again. But he doesn’t. I really do not know why Macon not chooses her. I feel they maybe still love each other in their own minds. It is really difficult to understand for me.

At the beginning of the story, I was not like Sarah because I think she's just for her son was dead so wanted to end the marriage. I think she is very selfish only think about their feelings and never thought her husband very sad actually. But when I read half, I changed my mind; I suddenly felt she was right. Because the original Macon is the most selfish, he only cares about himself and his family likes his brothers are selfishness. Although I don’t like Macon, he doesn’t hear family advices insist on their own ideas. I admire her determination and not easily influenced by others even his family to change own position.

Finally I really think Macon is a very strange man, because he does not like to travel himself, but he became a famous writer to write travel books.
