The Accidental Tourist

Summary:

The story begins with the main character, Macon Leary, the writer of tourist guide book for business people who goes travel on working but wish the place like home. He and his wife, Sarah Leary, fight in the car. Sarah can’t bear Macon’s routines and habits, day after day for not changing. Then she says she wants a divorce.with Macon pull over the car and stop it. The only sound is the drummimg of the rain. Macon’s single life begins. The life seems ordinary to Macon, but it can’t be normal as there’s nothing happened. Life keeps going, you must carry on. He has to write his book. During the travel, his dog Edward needs a place to keep it. All hospital don’t want to take care of it, but Muriel Pritchett, a dog trainer does. There seems some destiny to them. They live together, and Macon has get over the pain of his son’s death. Although Macon still hope to make it up with Sarah, and they has once, but finally he goes back to Muriel.

Reflection:

I don’t like Macon actually. He can’t live with a woman but thinking of another person. Although he went back with Muriel, but it still a pain for Muriel. I don’t like Macon’s personalities as well. He wanted to get back with Sarah, but he didn’t do any action just wait or negative attitude. I like Muriel because she is an outgoing person as I am, and she can really takes good cares of dogs. The whole story is not interesting, but I think there still something that people can learn from, not only the writing skills but the purpose of life
