The Accidental Tourist

Summary:

Macon Leary who is the main character in this novel. In the beginning, he and his wife fight and decided to divorce. Because they metion about their son’s dead. Sarah though Macon didn’t concern about it. At the first, he felt bored with everything, and he missed Sarah very much. Macon was a writer who wrote guidebooks. Ironically, he hates traveling. After divorcing, he went on another tourist to work with his dog, Edward. However, Macon can’t work with Edward. Edward has to be care of. So, he searched many animal hospitals. Unfortunately, no one wanted to take care of Edward because it had bitten many people. Soon, he met Muriel who is a vet was glad to help Macon look after Edward. After that, he decided to move back to live with his old house where his unmarried sister Rose and two divorced brothers Charles and Porter. One day, Macon’s boss, Julian, went there to make sure the schedule of the tourist book was all right. Julian seemed to fall in love with Rose, they started dating and finally decided to marry. Several days passed, Muriel though she loves Macon and want to marry him, but Macon confused her. When they go to Rose and Julian’s wedding, Macon sees Sarah again. Sarah still love Macon, and they live with each other again. But, they fight again. Macon flew to Paris for work but he didn't know Muriel went with him. At Paris, he finally realized that Muriel is the true love he wants.

Reflection:

In the story, I really don’t like Macon. He is so uncertain for his future. Well, he hates traveling but writing guidebooks. How ridiculous he is! I can’t understand why Macon and Sarah be together and break up again. It is so meaningless. Last, I like Sarah very much. She is so kind that she is willing to help Macon take care of his dog.
