THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST

Summary

After Macon’s son Ethan died, Macon got odder and sadness of death of Ethan was always in his mind. His wife Sarah couldn’t stand such him, got divorced with him and moved out. Meanwhile, he had to go on his work, writing guide book. He sent his dog to Muriel, the dog trainer. Slowly, Macon stepped in her life, moved in her house, knew her son and families. Macon’s brothers and sister didn’t like her, however. After his sister’s wedding, Sarah wanted to live with him. He did ,but, finally, he chose Muriel.

Reflection

I think Macon and Muriel are suitable for each other. Muriel is talkative and friendly, but Macon is quiet and odd. They had ever gotten hurt. Muriel was active and optimistic to face the difficulty in life. I sympathized Macon a little, because he couldn’t jump out the deep, cold hole called the depth of Ethan, he couldn’t forget his son and lead a grand-new life. Muriel changed his life and opened a new leaf, however. I consider Edward to be a matchmaker which connected Macon with Muriel.

There is a one sentence I kept thinking about ─ Maybe, he thought, who you are when you’re with somebody matters more than whether you love her. This is the change of Macon’s thought. It takes time for me to think its meaning. I feel it’s meaningful.
